TELETHERAPY: ILLINOIS
Ashley Hunt, LCSW, PMH-C
Owner & Perinatal Therapist
My interest in perinatal mental health began during my employment at an outpatient women’s health center. While there, I worked with women navigating the complexities of high-risk pregnancies, unexpected pregnancies, birth trauma, perinatal loss, and most common perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I have worked closely with Obstetricians, Perinatal Psychiatrists, Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians, and Genetic Counselors, thus gaining a wealth of knowledge about the various challenges of managing a pregnancy.
My interest in perinatal health turned into a passion for reproductive health and fertility when I faced my own infertility challenges. After undergoing a multi-myomectomy to remove several fibroids, I was diagnosed with Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR); this diagnosis meant that In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) was necessary to grow my own family. My experience with infertility further faced unique challenges as I am also a Single Mother by Choice (SMC/SMBC). As a Black woman, I understand the adversity individuals of color face when attempting to access reproductive health services. I strive to be a support for clients as they navigate their own reproductive journeys.
I am client-focused when working with individuals and families, encouraging them to actively participate in their treatment. I use a mixture of modalities, from cognitive-behavioral techniques to holistic and integrative approaches. I always strive to bring culture and identity into the therapy space because I believe one’s lived experiences are often shaped by their personal identities.
Iyanla Louissaint, LPC Eligible
Pre-Licensed Perinatal Therapist
I provide therapeutic support to individuals navigating the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise during the perinatal period, including postpartum adjustment, mood and anxiety disorders, identity shifts, and relationship stress. My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and a deep respect for the complexity of this life stage. I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions to help clients regulate emotions, manage distress, and reconnect with their values. These evidence-based approaches support clients in building resilience, improving self-awareness, and making meaningful choices aligned with their goals.
Cultural humility is central to my practice. I recognize that experiences during the perinatal period are shaped by personal history, cultural context, and systemic factors. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and fully seen in all aspects of their identity—including race, gender, sexuality, and family structure. My approach is collaborative, practical, and affirming. I work with clients to build tools for coping, strengthen their sense of self, and support their overall emotional well-being through this significant life transition.
Nicole Reynolds, BSW, MSW Intern
Clinical Intern
My interest in perinatal mental health started when I was employed as a family social worker. While in this role, I saw many instances where parents had not received the prenatal and postpartum mental health support that they desperately needed. I have navigated helping women with severe mental health crisis’, domestic violence, hoarding, and other risk factors. In early 2024, my passion for assisting families in the prenatal, birth and postpartum periods grew as I came to understand the correlation between care during these periods and child protective services; in response I decided to pursue my training as a birth and postpartum doula. I assist with perinatal mood disorders, grief/loss, the creation of community, as well as advocating and encouraging clients to advocate for themselves.
I believe that everyone deserves access to reliable perinatal mental health services as well as support during the prenatal and postpartum periods with a support person, such as a doula or therapist. I have witnessed the multitude of methods that individuals may take to start or grow families and each journey needs reassurance or guidance along the way.
I am client-focused and have experience working with individuals and families. I strive to always encourage clients to be an active part of their care plan and making choices based on their needs. Each individual person deserves to be treated as a whole individual – with every aspect of their identity being taken into consideration. I believe that every part of a person’s individuality will affect their treatment and growth; and that is why I value holistic and therapeutic care.
